Alki Condo Renovation

This was a full interior renovation of a unit in a triplex originally designed by Olson Walker (now the legendary firms Olson Kundig and Gordon Walker). Part of our project was converting a conventional bedroom into a flexible space that can transform from an open home office space into and enclosed guest room with a pull down bed.

Collaborating with Joseph McKknstry Construction and Cabinetmakers Alki Artisan works, we designed a curving, pivoting walnut shelving partition with translucent panels that also has a fold down stand up desk for a laptop looking out at Puget Sound.

Thanks to some structural gymnastics, we were able to turn the kitchen into a social anchor for the home which tries to strike a balance between minimalist order and playfulness.
