Kirkland House

This project brought a strangely designed 1999 spec house down to the studs, rethought inch by inch. The walnut kitchen is the heart of the house, as much as library as a place to cook.

We touched every surface of this 1999 house, except a pink marble floor in the entry hall. Obviously that required preservation.

We reconfigured the building as a simple container held to the hillside by heavy roof planes, with 4 covered outdoor spaces carved out, each painted a different bold color.
