Magnolia Mid-century Remodel

The owners of a worn-out mid-century house in Seattle’s Magnolia neighborhood hired Paul Michael Davis Design to re-imagine their home and add a third story.

They loved the clean lines and natural light of the original house, so we preserved these elements and based the new design on them.  We proposed a series of roof terraces linked by outdoor staircases which would take advantage of the outstanding views of Elliott Bay.

The house is clad in galvanized steel and local cedar and features re-used and recycled materials, a rain water cistern, and an abundance of natural light to reduce the house’s environmental impact.
